Compost Collective Stands with Black Lives Matter

On Monday Compost Collective sent out a facebook post showing our support of Black Lives Matter and the actions we will be taking to facilitate that support.

It is important for us to show our actions instead of giving unaccountable words to the movement. And it’s important for us to acknowledge our own privilege and the racism and inequity that is rampant in the environmental community.

We know we have a long way to go, but we want to start moving. Here are the first few steps we are taking as a company:

  • We are performing a full audit on the companies we purchase from.
    • We will not be supporting companies that don’t align with our values and we will seek to purchase from minority owned businesses.
    • Our first step includes no longer purchasing buckets from Uline and we will be transitioning into a new bucket style.
  • We have donated a portion of our May profits to the KC Community Bail Fund, and will continue to donate to organizations that need it throughout the month (and beyond).
  • We want to keep the conversation open and if you have opinions, ideas, or feedback as to how we can be better, please share those with us.

At CCKC, we stand with the Black Community. Here are some local resources, as well as some information to learn about the discrimination and bias of the environmental movement.
